Beyond Training

One of the most important guiding principles of Athletic Republic training is that every athlete is different -- from basic physical characteristics to the requirements of the sports they play to even where they are at in their sport’s seasonal cycle. That’s why our training is always personalized to meet the needs of every individual. We offer Enhanced Training as a way of delivering to our athletes more options for getting the specific training they need. Accordingly, we’ve modified some of our programming to pull some elements out of Acceleration sports performance training,  which can then be supplemented by training that addresses the specific needs of individual athletes, including any functional, sport-specific training they require. 

 

Enhanced Training classes are included in any Acceleration or AR-FIT Unlimited Membership; they can also be purchased individually or on a monthly unlimited basis.

How Enhanced Training Works

Enhanced Training is made up of 30-minute small group training sessions for anyone who wants to improve their athletic skills, reduce injury risk, and/or enhance recovery. These sessions can be taken on their own, or added on to 60-minute training sessions (Acceleration or AR-FIT). None of the Enhanced Training modules are metabolically taxing, so adding them to a routine doesn’t put anyone at risk of overuse injury. This also makes them ideal for athletes who are in-season and therefore already pushing their bodies to the limit.

Stability Training

Stability Training improves balance, coordination, and multi-directional movement. Using primarily bodyweight exercises and balance equipment like Bosu balls, we work to develop the myriad small stabilizer muscles that are often overlooked in regular training. Stability training is ideal for anyone who is at risk for ACL injury, younger athletes, or senior athletes looking to retain essential balance and movement skills.

Shoulder Safety

Designed both for those who have experienced shoulder injury in the past as well as those at risk of overuse injuries such as baseball pitchers or swimmers, the Shoulder Safety module builds shoulder strength and resiliency to reduce risk for overuse injuries and impingement.

A recovery program is an important part of every high-performing athlete’s training program. It allows the athlete to absorb each workout, reduce fatigue, improve functional range of motion, reduce the risk of injury, and enhance performance.

Strength Training

This training focuses more intensively on increasing overall force production with lower volumes and higher resistance. Our weight training program is designed specifically for each athlete’s sport, training age, gender, and imbalances, with the aim of building a more injury-resistant athlete. As a result, we spend a lot of time developing decelerating musculature and healthy joints such as hips, knees and shoulders. Additional considerations include energy systems, movement patterns, primary as well as secondary movers, hypertrophy, strength, power, and endurance. We use everything from free weights and kettlebells to bands and boxes. Our athletes are under the watchful eye of an instructor to ensure they are being taught the right way to push themselves.

Sensory Training

Training with the Senaptec strobe glasses enhances visual skills such as focus, object tracking, anticipation timing, reaction time, visualization, balance/stability, and peripheral vision. The strobes in the glasses reduce the amount of visual information available to the athlete, forcing them to become more effective in processing this data. This effectively slows the game down around the athlete, helping them make quicker decisions, execute rapid responses, and complete more efficient movements which contribute to better game-day performance.
